Chemipro Kasei also manufactures OLED materials. Their use in lighting devices began in recent years, in addition to use in smartphone and TV displays.

What is OLED?

An organic electro-luminescence (OEL), also known as organic light-emitting diode (OLED) represents technology by which an electric current is passed and emits organic matter, in other words converting electric energy to light energy.

Features

High Image Quality

  • The self-luminous nature enhances a striking contrast of light and dark, producing an image with high contrast.
  • Selecting organic materials with high colour purity creates images with high colour reproducibility.
  • The excellent video responsivity allows images with less blurring and afterimage.

Application to Lighting

  • It is now used not only for displays but also for lighting.
  • It creates less dazzling light with very little directionality in light in terms of how light spreads.
  • Close to natural light and with reduced blue light, it enables lighting devices that are gentle on the eyes.
  • It enables surface-emitting lighting devices, the entire surfaces of which emit light.

Thin, Lightweight and Flexible

  • Requiring no backlight makes the structure simple, with the advantage that displays can be thinner and lighter.
  • The use of plastic substrates allows for bendable (not easily breakable) displays and lighting fixtures.

An OLED Structure and Our Products

Chemipro Kasei provides chemical materials for the manufacture of display panels. We do not however produce TVs, smartphones and lighting devices themselves.
